Scenario recipes
Quiet build-up
- Auto-mood off during the briefing.
- One scare entity for one player, beyond 50 m.
- Enable auto-mood when the first objective starts.
- Single skull on patrol as ambient pressure.
Horde assault
- Copy selected unit types for the intended mix.
- Three waves, living limit below one wave, sky arrival.
- Horde cue for the whisper, then combat music.
- Pause between waves; move the controller to shift the launch centre.
Soul rescue
- Check the footer for a player in wake/rise/orb.
- Prefer a living helper applying a shield.
- Use Soul tools to release or respawn at the corpse.
- Emergency recovery only after those fail.
Photo shoot
- Freeze the skull with the ZEN control.
- Pause launches; let incoming units land.
- Low-strength gravity pulse for a backdrop.
- Delete controllers and sources afterwards.
Do and don’t
| Do | Don’t |
|---|---|
| Read the footer before diagnosing performance. | Confuse low server FPS with low player FPS. |
| Delete the retained controller to stop a system. | Delete the placement helper and expect the effect to vanish. |
| Stop a horde to cancel incoming units. | Expect existing enemies to disappear. |
| Use Soul tools first, emergency recovery last. | Delete a corpse to “fix” a stuck soul. |
| Target specific viewers for scares. | Select everyone because it is faster. |
| Freeze skulls with the ZEN control. | Use accTime = 0 in multiplayer. |
| Move the original skull prop. | Move the visible proxy and expect the anchor to follow. |
| Keep automatic arrivals off until needed. | Enable all-Zeus arrivals during a quiet opening. |
| Check whether the mission started a system. | Report a missing feature before checking init files. |
| Clean up sources and controllers at the end. | Leave endless loops running into the debrief. |
