STRATEGIC BRIEF 01 / HDEI + 12 MONTHS
SUBJECT: ONE YEAR AFTER THE INCIDENT

01 / EVENT SUMMARY
The High Density Energy Incident (HDEI) followed a failed experiment in the Czech Republic. A massive explosion saturated a wide area with mytoplasmic energy. Entities of unknown origin entered the affected territory. Residents became aggressive vessels or mindless reanimated corpses, attacking living creatures.

02 / CONTAINMENT MANDATE
Czechia, Germany, France and other partner nations committed funding, military personnel and scientific support. ŠIM coordinates containment, separates the zone from the outside world and supports operations beyond the perimeter.

03 / SPECIALIST FORMATIONS
Scientific breakthroughs enabled three dedicated formations:
PDU — Paranormal Dispatch Unit
SITF — Special Incident Task Force
SERE — Specialized Extraction and Rescue Element
SERE conducts specialized medevac and recovery of isolated personnel.

04 / CURRENT POSTURE
FOB Barbados is a strategic entry point for resupply and tactical operations. Strong infrastructure connects the base to key points of interest. Construction and activation took four months; the base became operational two months ago.

05 / PENDING OPERATION
A special operation will investigate the original explosion site. The assigned assault and investigation force will conduct the primary examination on location. The cause and full scope of the failed experiment remain unresolved.

ORIGIN-SITE INVESTIGATION
PRIMARY FORCE TASKING

SITUATION
Barbados supports entry into the HDEI zone through established infrastructure and access to key points of interest. The base reached operational status two months ago, following four months of construction and activation.

MISSION
The designated main force will enter the zone and conduct the primary on-location investigation of the explosion's point of origin.

PRIORITIES
1. Establish conditions at the origin site.
2. Record physical evidence and anomalous activity.
3. Identify recoverable research material.
4. Report findings to ŠIM command.

SUPPORT / PERIODIC SUPPLY RUNS
Barbados dispatches supplies across checkpoints inside the zone. These runs sustain deep-zone operations and surviving operators from failed expeditions. A checkpoint delivery does not confirm that an expedition has returned.

RECOVERY
SERE — Specialized Extraction and Rescue Element — provides specialized medevac support. Report casualty location, access conditions and observed contamination with every recovery request.

BIOLOGICAL HAZARDS SECTION
CLASSIFIED // LABORATORY CIRCULATION
BULLETIN B-04
POST-MORTEM REANIMATION

SCOPE
Recovered specimens indicate two pathways to the reanimation of deceased human bodies. Similar final behavior does not establish a single cause.

PATHWAY A / PASSIVE DIFFUSION
Mytoplasm concentrated in local fog diffuses into dead tissue. Exposure accelerates molecular transformation until the body becomes an aggressive, mobile vessel.

PATHWAY B / DIRECT INFECTION
A second pathway produces rapid DNA deconstruction and molecular restructuring. The transmission mechanism remains unknown. Resulting bodies resemble those altered by passive mytoplasmic diffusion.

OBSERVED BEHAVIOR
Reanimated subjects attack living creatures. Reports also describe altered residents behaving as aggressive vessels. Whether these states share an identical mechanism remains unresolved.

EXPOSURE NOTE
Mytoplasm is harmful to living humans. Inhalation at high concentrations can cause severe pain, suffocation and loss of consciousness. Chemical detectors now permit detection of mytoplasm in the field.

COMPARATIVE MODEL
FOG / MYTOPLASM → PASSIVE DIFFUSION → TISSUE TRANSFORMATION
UNKNOWN TRANSMISSION → DNA DECONSTRUCTION → MOLECULAR RESTRUCTURING
BOTH PATHWAYS → REANIMATED HOST

LIMITATION
This model describes observations. It does not establish intent, origin or a cure.

Margin note: Same endpoint. Do not assume the same exposure.

VISUAL SIGNATURE
Localized energy condensations have been observed emitting light, beams and particles. Their properties and origins remain unknown. Similar appearance does not establish similar behavior.

REPORTED LOCAL EFFECTS
Objects close to emissions have exhibited:
01 Apparent loss of gravity
02 Change of shape
03 Teleportation
04 Combustion
05 Explosion
06 Transmutation

ASSESSMENT
These observations suggest localized changes to physical behavior. No single model explains the full set of reports. A visible emission is an observation, not a measurement of its reach.

FIELD RECORD
Record the location, visible signature, affected objects, sequence of events and witness positions. Distinguish direct observation from interpretation. Do not list an inferred mechanism as a confirmed property.

DETECTION LIMIT
Chemical detectors identify mytoplasm. Detection of mytoplasm does not identify every energy or entity present at a site.

RECORDED STATEMENT
"It stayed where the shadows were deepest. I could see white eyes and something like black smoke moving around its body. It kept its distance while I could still hear the others.

"When I realized I was alone, it was closer. Each time I looked back, the gap had narrowed.

"Then it leaped straight toward me. There was no time to move. It disappeared immediately afterward. I cannot explain what happened."

CORRELATION
Other witnesses describe a dark figure with white eyes, surrounded by black smoke. Reports repeatedly place it near shadows and at a distance from groups.

ASSESSMENT
The account suggests a change in behavior after isolation. This is a working hypothesis, not a confirmed trigger. The entity's abilities, origin and physical properties remain unknown.

SKETCH FROM WITNESS DESCRIPTION
Approximate appearance only.

FOLLOW-UP

I thought it was a flare between the trees.
Then it turned.

A skull. Burning. No body beneath it.

It drifted toward the recently dead. It did not seem to care which bodies had been ours and which had already turned.

We had seen some of those things moving before they went down. The skull went to them too.

I cannot tell you what it did to the bodies. I can only tell you where it went.

The supply runs from Barbados pass through the checkpoints. If anyone finds this before the next run, put it with the reports.

Someone needs to compare what we saw.

Do not write "flare" in the log.

ANALYST'S NOTE
Independent reports describe flying, flaming skulls behaving like scavengers around recently deceased humans and reanimated hosts alike. They may accelerate mytoplasmic diffusion and reanimation. The mechanism is unconfirmed; the witness did not establish causation.

MEMORANDUM E-02
ECTOPLASM / UNRESOLVED ASSOCIATIONS

SAMPLE LIBRARY: OVER 100,000 SPECIMENS
ECTOPLASMIC TRACES: 200 SAMPLES

SUBSTANCE SUMMARY
MYTOPLASM / COMMON
Detectable by chemical detectors. Harmful to humans; concentrated inhalation causes pain, suffocation and loss of consciousness.

CYTOPLASM / LESS COMMON
Usually recovered as spilled liquid near mytoplasm-infused entities. Suspected byproduct of interaction with human flesh. Tests remain inconclusive.

ECTOPLASM / EXCEPTIONALLY RARE
Transitions between liquid, gas and plasma. Some samples appear capable of independent movement.

MIXING EXPERIMENT
Ectoplasm converts cytoplasm into additional ectoplasm on contact. Conversion stops after only a few percent dilution. Sustained or unlimited conversion has not been demonstrated.

POST-MORTEM ASSOCIATION
Ectoplasm appeared in some human samples collected only seconds after death. This raises the possibility of a connection to living humans, but does not establish its nature.

SURVIVOR CORRELATION
Original HDEI survivors reported extraordinary abilities during evacuation, including their own reanimation. A link to ectoplasm is possible and remains unproven.

RECOVERY LOCATIONS
Traces have also been recovered near churches and sanitized holy crosses. The significance of these locations is unknown.

WORKING POSITION
Association is not mechanism. Preserve the distinction between measured findings and survivor testimony.

Pencil note: What persists in those first seconds?

RESTRICTED // ALL OPERATION STATIONS
PRECEDENCE: IMMEDIATE
GENERAL ORDER G-13 / HDEI + 12 MONTHS
TO: ALL BASES, CHECKPOINTS AND OPERATION STATIONS

CEASE ALL EXPEDITIONS
EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY / UNTIL FURTHER ORDER

01 / COMMAND DIRECTION
Suspend all further expeditions into the HDEI zone. No new reconnaissance, research or recovery expedition is to launch. Suspend inward supply runs requiring zone entry or deeper penetration. Maintain containment and support personnel at their present stations. Units already deployed are to report status and withdraw when feasible.

02 / NEW WIDE-AREA ANOMALY
Several encounters confirm a strong mytoplasmic pulse with electromagnetic properties. The wave disrupts technology and electronic components, disabling communications and other equipment.

Highly concentrated mytoplasm also corrodes metallic materials in vehicles and field equipment. Combined failures reduce mobility and firepower, leave operating units vulnerable and severely limit survival options.

03 / TIMING AND ORIGIN
No warning sign has been identified. No correlation with another event has been established. Occurrences appear sporadic. Available reports suggest propagation from the HDEI source itself; origin remains unconfirmed.

04 / OPERATIONAL CONSEQUENCE
Deep-zone danger levels are reassessed as severe. Previous assumptions concerning reliable equipment, extraction and sustained operations are no longer valid. Silence after a pulse must not be treated as proof of casualties.

05 / CONTROL
Acknowledge receipt and account for deployed personnel. Forward pulse encounters and equipment-loss reports to joint command. Station commanders may not authorize exceptions. Only a separate authenticated ŠIM Board directive may release a specifically named operation.

OPERATION ORIGIN
SITF ACTIVATION / EXECUTE ON RECEIPT

01 / LIMITED EXCEPTION
The Board authorizes one SITF expedition from FOB Barbados to the HDEI research site. This order constitutes a specific exception to G-13. The general expedition suspension remains in force for all other units and stations.

02 / MISSION
Activate the designated Special Incident Task Force unit as the main force for primary on-location investigation of the research site where the failed experiment triggered the HDEI.

03 / PRIORITY TASKS
Establish the condition of the origin site. Recover accessible research records and evidence concerning the failed experiment. Document indications of a connection between the site and the newly reported mytoplasmic pulse. Return surviving personnel and recovered material to FOB Barbados for controlled transfer.

04 / EXECUTION AND SUPPORT
Barbados will prepare essential supplies, communications and casualty reception. SERE shall stand by for specialized medevac coordination. Deep-zone recovery cannot be guaranteed; no follow-on expedition is authorized by this order.

05 / OPERATING CONDITIONS
Expect sporadic pulses without warning, electronic failure and corrosion of metallic equipment. Neither vehicle mobility nor functioning communications can be assumed. The unit must be briefed on the risk of isolation and loss of firepower.

06 / REPORTING
Route mission traffic through the compartmented command channel. Apply Board Directive B-15 to all outcomes and recovered information. Do not distribute this exception through the general station network.

TO: COMMANDING OFFICER, FOB BARBADOS
EYES ONLY / NO LOCAL REDISTRIBUTION
REFERENCES: G-13 / B-14

OPERATION ORIGIN
INFORMATION CONTROL & OUTCOME ORDERS

01 / BOARD ASSESSMENT
The operation has a low probability of success. Deep-zone anomalies already compromise movement and recovery. Recent mytoplasmic pulses add unpredictable electronic failure and rapid corrosion, threatening communications, transport and firepower simultaneously. The Board accepts the likelihood of isolation, mission failure and loss of the deployed unit.

02 / INFORMATION CONTROL
Limit knowledge of the exception to personnel essential to execution. Segregate tasking, identities, traffic and recovered material from routine station reporting. Release no findings, mission attribution or casualty assessment outside this compartment without direct Board authority.

03 / FAILURE OR CONFIRMED LOSS
If the operation fails, terminate all acknowledged connection between ŠIM, FOB Barbados and the expedition. Treat the mission as an unattributable black operation. Withdraw official sponsorship and do not acknowledge the team's tasking. No rescue or reinforcement expedition is authorized. Seal the complete internal record for Board custody; issue no public operational account.

04 / LOSS OF CONTACT
Communications silence alone does not establish failure. Pulse-related equipment loss is a known possibility. Maintain compartmented reception readiness pending outcome confirmation or a direct Board determination.

05 / TEAM RETURNS
Notify the ŠIM Board directly through the executive channel. Secure returning personnel for medical assessment and compartmented debrief. Preserve original records and samples with their provenance. Transfer findings to the Board; bypass routine circulation and external liaison reporting.

06 / FINAL AUTHORITY
FOB Barbados has no authority to broaden disclosure, repeat the expedition or alter these outcome instructions.

BREAKTHROUGH REPORT E-04 / HDEI + 12 MONTHS
FOLLOW-UP TO E-03

INDUCED ETHEREAL TRANSITION
EXPOSURE, TIMING & OBSERVED LIMITS

01 / NEW RESULT
A pocket capsule of concentrated ecto-cyto-plasm can enable a recently deceased human to enter the ethereal state after its contents are poured onto the body. The subject can then seek a suitable reanimation anchor voluntarily. The development separates transition from prolonged environmental exposure.

02 / LIVING EXPOSURE
E-03 established post-mortem continuity after prolonged residence in cytoplasm-rich surroundings. Follow-up work varied exposure duration and compared this route with direct application of concentrate after death. Elapsed exposure alone is not a complete measure: local concentration also matters. A universal minimum exposure time remains unestablished.

03 / POST-MORTEM APPLICATION
The new result supports use on recently deceased humans. It does not establish recovery of long-dead remains. Experiments track the interval between death and application separately from the preceding exposure history. No universal maximum delay is validated. Operational implication: apply promptly; do not treat the absence of a published cutoff as an unlimited window.

04 / TRANSITION DURATION
Entry into ethereal awareness and eventual materialization are separate events. Travel to an anchor contributes to the interval before return. The experiments do not establish a fixed duration or a guaranteed time allowance for the ethereal state. Delay at the original body is not, by itself, evidence that transition failed.

05 / EXPERIMENTAL RECORD
For each trial, retain exposure history, time of death, application time, capsule batch, anchor identity and return time. Correlate these with the subject's debrief. Distinguish reported ethereal onset from externally observed materialization.

06 / INTERPRETATION
Three intervals must remain separate:
EXPOSURE / DEATH TO APPLICATION / ETHEREAL TRANSITION
No single countdown describes all three.

CONCENTRATED ECTO-CYTO-PLASM

07 / DEVICE PURPOSE
ECP-1 carries a prepared liquid concentrate combining ectoplasm and cytoplasm. Its pocket-sized protective casing permits carriage by SITF personnel. The device is a means of delivering the concentrate; it is not the large experimental revival chamber described in E-03.

08 / APPLICATION & EFFECT
Open the capsule and pour its contents onto a recently deceased human. The concentrate enables the subject to enter the conscious ethereal state. The demonstrated result is access to a route of return, not immediate restoration of the body at the application site.

09 / SUBJECT AGENCY
During transition the subject retains awareness and can navigate voluntarily without a physical body, as described in E-03. A surviving teammate initiates application. The deceased subject must then find and approach a suitable anchor. The capsule does not choose that destination.

10 / MATERIALIZATION
A separate nearby object containing sufficient ectoplasm and cytoplasm provides the reanimation anchor. On voluntary approach, the subject's body materializes there. Prior observations include the return of clothing and carried inorganic items. The teammate should therefore expect return at the anchor rather than beside the original remains.

11 / FORMULATION LIMIT
Earlier experiments found that ectoplasm converts some cytoplasm into additional ectoplasm, but conversion stops after only limited dilution. ECP-1 contains a prepared combined concentrate. It is not evidence of unlimited multiplication, and field dilution or splitting of its contents is not validated.

12 / UNRESOLVED CAPABILITIES
Repeated use, storage life, damaged-capsule performance and the effect of mytoplasmic pulses remain unvalidated. A metal casing alone is not evidence of resistance to pulse corrosion. No claim of guaranteed recovery is authorized.

FIELD ANCHORS & RETURN
RELIGIOUS TOTEMS / OPERATIONAL ASSESSMENT

13 / ANCHOR RECOGNITION
Roadside shrines, religious totems and crosses frequently contain enough ectoplasm and cytoplasm together to permit revival. Reference examples include a small chapel shrine, a crucifix on a stone plinth and a column shrine with a devotional niche.

14 / SUITABILITY LIMIT
Appearance identifies a candidate, not a guarantee. Revival depends on sufficient combined concentration at the object. Religious symbolism alone does not establish suitability, and an untested object must not be presumed active. The reason these substances accumulate at holy sites remains unresolved.

15 / RETURN SEQUENCE
After capsule application, the subject enters the ethereal state and searches for a suitable field totem. The subject approaches voluntarily. Materialization occurs at that anchor and restores a physical presence, including the clothing and carried inorganic items observed in earlier trials. The portable capsule enables transition; the totem enables return.

16 / ASSESSING AN OUTCOME
Movement at the original body is not the test of success. Physical return elsewhere and the returning subject's account establish the completed sequence. A missing return can reflect failed transition, absence of a suitable anchor or another unresolved limit. Silence alone cannot distinguish these outcomes.

17 / TACTICAL IMPLICATION
The method offers an experimental recovery option for recently deceased SITF personnel without transporting a full revival chamber. It still depends on a surviving operator applying the contents and an ethereal subject reaching an adequate anchor. It is not autonomous recovery or assured survival.

18 / REQUIRED FOLLOW-UP
Record capsule application and the eventual return location. Debrief the subject on navigation, perceived duration and the object selected. Inspect restored equipment and record any discrepancies. Confirm concentration and anchor repeatability in further trials.

FOR THE LIVING TEAMMATE

1 / REACH THE CASUALTY
Use on a recently deceased human.
Apply promptly. No guaranteed time window has been established.

2 / OPEN & POUR
Open the capsule. Pour its contents onto the deceased person.
Use the prepared contents; do not dilute or divide them.

3 / UNDERSTAND THE EFFECT
The concentrate enables an ethereal out-of-body state.
It does not bring the person back on the spot.
The subject must find a suitable revival totem.

FOR THE ETHEREAL SUBJECT

4 / FIND YOUR ANCHOR
Navigate voluntarily toward a nearby religious totem, shrine or cross containing enough ectoplasm and cytoplasm together.
Not every religious object is suitable.

5 / APPROACH TO RETURN
Approach the suitable totem willingly.
Your body materializes there with clothing and carried items.
Return is at the totem, not at the original body.

RESPIRATORY PROTECTION
MYTOPLASMIC FOG / GENERAL ISSUE

PREPARE. CONNECT. BREATHE.
THREE WAYS TO BREATHE

A / STANDALONE GAS MASK
Uses the mask's own filter.
Considerably reduces stamina.

B / COMBINATION RESPIRATOR
Gas mask connected by hose to the
Combination Unit Respirator Backpack.
Uses the backpack cartridge.
Reduces stamina only slightly.

C / SCBA
Supplies air from its oxygen tank.
No added breathing penalty.

PREPARE BEFORE USE
A newly equipped gas mask has NO INSTALLED FILTER.
A newly equipped filtration backpack has NO CARTRIDGE.
Install a spare through the equipment interaction.
An SCBA oxygen tank STARTS FILLED.

Equipping a mask or filtration backpack is not the same as installing its supply.

CONNECTING THE BACKPACK HOSE
1 / Connect the backpack hose to the mask through the equipment interaction.
2 / Any filter fitted to the gas mask is removed and returned to your inventory.
3 / A used filter returns as a SPENT filter.
4 / If your inventory cannot hold the removed filter, the hose connection is REFUSED.

Make room for a fitted filter before connecting the hose.
Once connected, the combination setup uses the backpack cartridge.

CHECK THE SUPPLY, NOT JUST THE EQUIPMENT.

MANAGE YOUR ACTIVE SUPPLY
CONSUMPTION • WARNINGS • RECOVERY

1 / CONTINUOUS DRAIN
An active filter, cartridge or oxygen tank drains continuously, including outside chemical fog.
Clean air does not pause an active supply.

2 / WHAT CHANGES CONSUMPTION
Fog level can change during the mission.
Stronger fog increases FILTER and CARTRIDGE consumption.
Low stamina increases COMBINATION-BACKPACK CARTRIDGE use.
Exertion does NOT change STANDALONE GAS MASK FILTER use.

3 / READ THE REMAINING SUPPLY
The on-screen progress bar shows the remaining active supply.
Use the ACE equipment interaction for exact FILTER or CARTRIDGE readings.

3 MINUTES REMAINING
A subtle sound warns you.

1 MINUTE REMAINING
A more urgent warning sound repeats.

4 / REPLACE A USED SUPPLY
Use the equipment interaction to install a spare filter or cartridge.
The used item is replaced by its SPENT version in your inventory.
If your inventory is full, the spent version is placed ON THE GROUND.

TWO DIFFERENT INVENTORY RULES
HOSE CONNECTION: refused if the removed mask filter cannot fit.
SUPPLY REPLACEMENT: the spent item drops on the ground if it cannot fit.

5 / RECOGNIZE LOSS OF PROTECTION
Chemical exposure without working filtration causes SEVERE STAMINA LOSS and VISUAL BLUR.

6 / RESTORE PROTECTION
Install or reconnect a working supply to restore protection.
The stamina and blur effects fade back to normal GRADUALLY.
Protection can be restored before those effects have fully cleared.

WATCH THE BAR. HEED THE WARNINGS. RESTORE THE SUPPLY.
