Lore · Threat recognition
Know the shape, remember the order
Eight field leaflets, plus the two anomalies the addon implements itself. The weights are real: they are what the atmosphere director uses to decide that ten Shamblers outrank fifty Walkers.
Technical basis
FF Horror is built around WebKnight zombies
FF Horror does not ship a zombie mod. The Spooks mission uses WebKnight's Zombies and Survivors (WBK) for the infected population, and the addon's threat model, filters and horde defaults are tuned for those archetypes. Nothing in the addon requires WBK: every system falls back to plain infantry, but the intended experience — and the numbers below — assume it.
| Where WBK matters | Behaviour | Fallback without WBK |
|---|---|---|
| Atmosphere threat profile | FFATM_fnc_zombieProfile recognises WBK class names and returns a kind, weight and close-range urgency. | Unknown OPFOR classes weigh 1 and are logged once to the RPT. |
| Horde pools | Weighted class strings such as Zombie_O_RA_Civ=10,Zombie_O_Crawler_Civ=1. | Any installed infantry class works; invalid classes are rejected by spawnPool. |
| Automatic arrivals | Default class filter matches zombie in the class or its ancestors. | Choose “All AI infantry” or supply a custom class filter. |
| AI balancing scope | “FF Horror units only” keeps balancing away from unrelated mission AI. | With WBK installed, its units are the FF Horror units. |
| Field leaflets | Walker, Shambler, Sprinter, Leaper, Bloater, Screamer, Smasher and Goliath correspond to WBK archetypes. | The lore still reads; the models simply differ. |
Class names differ between WBK versions. Do not copy class strings from a screenshot of another build.
Run [_unit, _distance] call FFATM_fnc_zombieProfile on a live unit, or read the returned kind, before
writing a horde pool.
// what the director thinks a unit is
private _profile = [_zombie, player distance _zombie] call FFATM_fnc_zombieProfile;
_profile params ["_kind", "_weight", "_urgency"];
systemChat format ["%1 (weight %2)", _kind, _weight];
Threat table
Weight, behaviour, response
Weight is relative danger in the atmosphere model, not health. Urgency is the close-range alarm that can escalate a mood without sustained fire.
| Threat | Weight | Behaviour | Prescribed response | Leaflet |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Walker standard host |
0.15 | Standard reanimated host. Slow, numerous, individually weak. | Headshots dispatch. Leg shots only limit movement; a crawling host is still hostile. | F-16 |
| Shambler challenging host |
2 | Ten Shamblers outweigh fifty Walkers in the director's threat model. | Explosive force when grouped. Do not treat a group as a larger lone target. | F-18 |
| Sprinter fast host |
2.5 | Fast approach, short reaction window, same grouped-response rule. | Explosives or automatic fire when grouped; keep distance and call it out. | F-18 |
| Screamer vocal alert |
0.5 | Cannot strike, but its call alerts every nearby host and causes headaches. | Priority target. Silence it before it calls, and assume an alert already given stands. | F-12 |
| Bloater explosive |
3 | Harmless at range; sprints and detonates when it gets close. Chemical and overpressure wounds. | Engage from distance. Warn the unit the moment it starts its rush. | F-15 |
| Leaper agile mutant |
6 | Fast, tactical and more durable than a host. Unpredictable path breaks sight lines. | Explosives or automatic fire. Do not expect a straight approach. | F-14 |
| Smasher heavy mutant |
16 | Extreme threat. Ranged attack, massive durability, low rapid stance. | Withdraw and evacuate. Heavy ordnance, never small-arms attrition. | F-13 |
| Goliath extreme mutant |
50 | One confirmed Goliath is immediate combat once known, up to 45 m. | Retreat immediately, report, and let heavy ordnance do the work. | F-11 |
| Triggerman armed host |
0.6 | Carries a weapon. Its gunfire feeds the separate gunfire charge. | Treat as a shooter first and a host second: cover, then dispatch. | — |
| Crawler crippled host |
0.15 | Low mobility, minimal pressure. | Ignore while a real threat is present; finish it later. | — |
| Flying flaming skull anomaly |
— | Weak, airborne, dangerous only at contact distance. | Keep distance and make several direct hits count. | F-17 |
| Shadow figure entity |
— | Unverified. Stays near shadows and closes distance after isolation. | Stay together, keep it observed, record the incident. | F-05 |

Urgency thresholds from the director: Bloater 6 within 30 m and 10 within 12 m; Leaper urgent within 15 m; Smasher urgent within 30 m; Goliath immediate combat within 45 m once known.

Anomalies
Two things that are not zombies
Flying flaming skull
Weak, airborne, dangerous only at contact distance. The addon implements it as a registered skull actor: patrol, traversal and fly modes, projectile hits count, and a photo freeze.
Shadow figure
The witness report describes something that stays in shadow, closes distance after isolation, and vanishes on contact. The addon implements it as the scare apparition: it holds still while watched and moves when you look away.
